This is still for "Skies of Fire", in this case designs for a few ships belonging to the Duchy of Esteront, during the "Lowlands War" (704-712) and especially the climactic "Battle of Solitude Ridge" in 712, the largest airship battle in history which led to the victory of The Empire of Aquila and the "Copperhead Accords".

This is a more in depth exploration of one of the ships shown here.

The aft section would be perfect for a small deck for aircraft.

Some versions do in fact carry a scout plane or two, but any more than that would require them to mount extensive hangars and aircraft servicing facilities, which, of course, could only be installed at the expense of a reduction in main armament mounts, because both space and displacement are finite.

Besides, the Rontian forces are fighting on their own territory, well within range of land-based aircraft, and their first priority was "any kind of ship so we can strike back at those Aquilan bastards", so they're really not choosy in the matter.

A few recon aircraft would be handy though.

Looks great, but I would suggest moving some turrets aft. Note that the rear section is virtually defenceless.

Not really - at least four main and four secondary turrets are able to fire along the hull to engage any threat directly aft, and grouping all the guns together makes it easier for the ammunition supply - this way you only have one magazine instead of two.

Besides, she can always manoeuvre to clear her baffles (I know this is submarine slang, but I think it works in the context), she's not meant to engage the enemy alone in any case, and two ships can better cover each other's blind spots. Especially since the kind of ship-to-ship fighting they prefer in this world is with the ships in line abreast on parallel courses exchanging full broadsides.

The only thing they're afraid of are enemy fixed wing aircraft, but she has two aft close defence turrets to deal with that threat.

Thanks!
I tried to stay true to the original design featured in the comic (with which I had little to do, since I joined the team around Issue 2) and still give them my own "twist"
